Going Green, Building Smart

New Horizon Development Group is always mindful of its carbon footprint.

Looking for smart growth opportunities for infill sites with the existing infrastructure of established cities and suburban settings.

New Horizon was awarded the FIRST-EVER “Best Green Home in Canada” by the Canadian Home Builder’s Association in 2009.

“It is an honour to be recognized by industry peers for designing, planning and building an eco-friendly home even if it was a one-of-a-kind custom built home,” says Jeff Paikin, President of New Horizon.

The award-winning home featured super insulation, two windmills, solar energy, geothermal heating and cooling, and rainwater recovery. Although such a green technology package would not be financially feasible for a production built-home, New Horizon continues to look for energy saving innovations with each new development it builds. All New Horizon homes and condos are Energy Star™ rating and, whenever possible, have energy efficiency features, such as geothermal heating and cooling.
