Artist Biography
Edith Houde was born in Budapest, Hungary, immigrating to Montreal in 1965. She has been living in Burlington for the past fifteen years.
She is a self-taught artist and has trained alongside artists such as S. Ewasiuk and N. Zimmerman. Edith’s works were originally influenced by Modigliani and Mathis but more recently she finds herself inspired by the abstract expressionism of Jean-Paul Riopelle. She employs several mediums including acrylic and oil/cold wax.
Edith Houde has been commissioned for portraits and abstraction art. Her work is often on display at the McMaster Innovation Park, places of business and at the AGB. Most recently her work was displayed at a juried show at The Hub.
