Hamilton-based New Horizon Development Group has broken ground and begun construction at Urban West, its boutique condo development in Hamilton’s Kirkendall neighbourhood.
Urban West is an innovative “first” for this downtown neighbourhood.
The area is primarily low-rise and Urban West is the first condo building to be offered. Once the site of a decommissioned gas station, and more recently a Tim Hortons, Jeff Paikin, president of New Horizon Development Group and his team envisioned an intimate boutique condo that would be a catalyst for revitalization in its neighbourhood. Hip locals and savvy investors immediately saw the potential and snapped up the suites.

Urban West is located at the corner of Dundurn and Aberdeen, close to popular Locke Street and the emerging Dundurn Street. The location was a real draw for those looking to be in a unique building within an established area close to it all!
The site is very rare and the building it unique too. At just five residential stories and two elevated parking levels, Urban West enjoys great sightlines of the surrounding areas. “You will really feel much higher up given the topography, the uninterrupted views and the lofty feel of this warehouse-style building,” adds Paikin. “You’re in a real neighbourhood yet close to McMaster, Chedoke, the Bruce Trail and all downtown Hamilton and its surrounding has to offer.”
New Horizon Development Group is further reshaping Hamilton’s downtown with Paikin’s recent City Square Condo in the Durand District. City Square’s first nine-storey tower was an instant hit with locals wanting to stay connected to Hamilton’s vibrant downtown and enjoy city chic condo living. Paikin advises that “City Square Tower Two will be unveiled in the very near future. The waiting list from our first building and the new registration list is growing. We anticipate another success story in Downtown Hamilton.”
